Treatment Alternatives to Street Crime (TASC) was started in 1972 by the Federal Government to examine the problems of drug abuse and criminal behavior. TASC is designed to act as a bridge between the criminal justice system and the treatment community.

TASC provides juveniles and adults with an opportunity to receive community-based treatment as an alternative or supplement to more costly legal sanctions and procedures.

Drug abstinence, employment and social personal functioning are monitored closely to hold the offender accountable and support positive reintegration into the community.
