The Community Health Center is a non-profit social service agency in the Akron area providing comprehensive treatment, primary health care, prevention, and housing services for addictive and compulsive behaviors and disorders.

We are currently seeking a Billing Specialist to use their medical billing expertise to complete financial, operational, and compliance projects for the Community Health Center. Responsibilities include: analysis of current billing system/procedures, identify issues and report to upper management, and follow-up in accordance with department policies and procedures, as well as the appropriate insurance, Medicaid and ADM board regulations and guidelines.  Will work independently, under minimal supervision, with considerable latitude for initiative and independent judgment to make billing processes more efficient and standardized. Will help organize patient billing and collection activities to include: financial intake, third party and accounts receivable.  Duties include but are not limited to: assuring accurate data entry of patient information; pre-authorization for all insurance coverage as required by Provider; monitoring billing staff entries, assuring compliance with internal and external policy/procedure and regulations; developing and implementing policies and procedures; fostering an environment of exceptional customer service; and following up on issues to make sure claims and payments are processed, accepted and rectified in a timely manner.

Minimum Requirements: Must have High School Diploma, Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in accounting/finance/business preferred, and at least 3 years medical office experience. Should be knowledgeable in all aspects of medical office operations including billing, coding and collections.  This position requires strong leadership abilities including the ability to prioritize, plan and offer direction to fiscal department staff.  Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multitask, be flexible and able to function well in a fast-paced environment, be extremely efficient and organized and have the ability to manage deadlines, enforce policy and resolve conflict.
