Position Purpose:  This position is responsible for discovering and establishing new customers and cultivating a relationship with them while assessing their educational training needs.  Once needs are assessed, responsible for taking them through the sales process. 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Selling of services via designed sales process

  • Makes continual contact with the customer and or potential customer through email campaigns and phone call campaigns requiring approximately 80 dials per day.

  • Assist in establishing strategy and achieving goals

  • Use DPS sales system working with decision maker (s), collaborating on potential solutions, qualifying budget, and closing Training & Education services to prospects and customers.

  • Accurately represent the customer and their needs to operations in order for us provide the appropriate response and service.

  • Lead person to create a proposal that is specific to that organizations need(s). 

  • Direct contact with other departments/ department leaders to make a qualified decision that will develop strong relationships/business.

  • Provides functional guidance and coaching/mentorship to other sales roles when needed.

  • Maintains appropriate records based on management’s performance review criteria in Sales Force and other data bases as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Education and Experience:  

  • Associate’s Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience. 

  • 5-7 years sales experience including new business development, new account set up, professional and technical proposal writing, and customer education which results in specialty product/service purchases vs. commodity purchases with existing and new customers.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

  • Must have familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel and be able to navigate through general Windows applications

  • Database experience preferred.

  • Discipline and self-motivation to make a high volume of calls per day (80) and manage communication with the customer via email.

  • Strong background in project management and have a working knowledge of the transformer maintenance and/or electric industry. 

  • Technically savvy to identify customers buying criteria and be able to successfully navigate them through the DPS sales process. 

  • Skillful at investigative work, possess exceptional organizational skills and be able to effectively see a project through to completion. 

  • Excellent analytical, prioritization, negotiation and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills and have the ability to create a favorable impression for the company to all suspects, prospects and internal/external customers. 

  • Strong sense of team commitment, which includes meeting deadlines, punctuality and excellent follow-through and feedback. 

  • Sales Force experience/knowledge

  • Thorough and comprehensive knowledge of the service offerings (i.e. in house, scheduled, seminar topics/sessions) of T & E and a general knowledge of SD Myers products and services and be able to accurately answer the questions in a way that is customized to that individual customer.
