PARENTING INSTRUCTOR/CASE MANAGER
SUMMARY: Plans and conducts parenting classes. Provides case management of participants referred for the Parenting Skills Training Program, according to agency policies and procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Act as case manager, assuming primary responsibility for participant from intake/admission through orientation and goal planning to discharge.
Assess participants in parenting skills training classes for duration of the program.
Teach classes on parenting skills, following the curriculum.
Provide guidance, direction and advice consistent with the participant’s program goals and objectives.
Supervise parenting aide, participants and volunteers in assigned tasks.
Observe behavior, record relevant information and submit required paperwork on a timely basis.
Arrange for community speakers to present information to participants in order to enhance quality of services and information offered.
Report progress of participants to authorized referral agencies as requested, either in written or verbal form.
Work cooperatively as a member of the Parenting Skills Training Program team, assisting other team members, as needed, to implement treatment programs.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in education, social work, psychology, rehabilitation counseling or five years experience.
Experience in social services, group work, parent education, early childhood education, child development and/or instruction required. Experience in working with persons with disabilities or disadvantage persons preferred.
Must have excellent writing skills.
A valid driver’s license and proof of insurance is required.
HOURS: 10:00a.m. To 8:30p.m. Monday through Thursday; must have ability to work alterative shifts according to the needs of the department.
