The Fundraising Coordinator (FC) is responsible for raising money for Project Shine primarily through the organization and execution of the annual silent auction event. The FC will meet donation targets by approaching members of the public (‘community fundraising’), high value donors, companies, and supporters wishing to leave a legacy.


  • Recruit, organize and lead volunteers.

  • Assemble donated items for the annual silent auction.

  • Build relationships with major donors or companies and promote Project Shine.

  • Liaise with the Project Shine Board of Trustees to coordinate the event.

  • Manage the budget and work to meet goals.

  • Account handling: ensuring major donors or companies are happy with their donation scheme (such as a name recognition or specific sponsorship) and are kept informed of progress and milestones.

  • Manage the annual silent auction normally scheduled for a Friday in April.

  • Spot fundraising opportunities and raise awareness of the organization’s effort in the community.

  • Attend at least 2 board meetings prior to the auction.


The FC must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. He/she must be adept at researching and devising strategies and taking advantage of donation possibilities. The FC must be adept at people management, building long-term relationships with potential donors or volunteers and persuasively explaining the Project Shine cause. The ability to manage budgets and reach fundraising goals is critical.


  • Minimum of three years’ experience in fundraising, or prior experience in sales or marketing.

  • Relatable past event coordination experience.

  • Previous nonprofit or volunteer service required.

  • Must support the vision of Project Shine: Project Shine exists to connect individuals to Christ through basic home improvement and ministry in our communities, while spiritually investing in our participants.


  • This is a seasonal, independent contractor position.

  • Main activity cycle is from January through April.

  • 150 expected hours at $30 per hour.
