Responsibilities:
-Assist with setting and maintaining proper grade, slope and mat thickness throughout the day.
- Have knowledge with different asphalt mixes, temperatures and material flow.
- Ensure the proper adjustments to maintain smoothness and uniform paving.
- Have the ability  to correct imperfections behind the paver.
- Have the familiarity with all of the paving tools (lutes, rakes, shovels, etc.)

Skills:

-Must have experience working on a paver screed using the extensions, end gates and depth control.

-Must have experience with proper joint and edge compaction.

- Knowledge of safety for the crews, yourself and others.
- Awareness of the jobsite sequence with the paver operator and rollers.
- Must have a valid drivers license.

-Work will include long hours in outdoor conditions with the possibility of night and Saturday work.

Education and Experience:

-Minimum of 5 years of paving experience and knowledge of all paving equipment.

-High School Diploma or GED

-Must be in the Laborer's Union or willing to join.
