POSITION

Community and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator

THIS POSITION REPORTS TO

Director of Community and Volunteer Engagement of Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio (HFHECO)

POSITION PURPOSE

The objective of the Community and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator is to support the Director of Community and Volunteer Engagement in all administrative and community engagement responsibilities pertaining to volunteerism, community outreach, and events.

FULL-TIME: Exempt

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The Community and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator should have experience in special event management and/or working with volunteers. A B.A. or B.S. in a related field is preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

  • A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required
  • Criminal background check required

REQUIREMENTS           

The Community and Volunteer Engagement Coordinator must understand and appreciate the mission of HFHECO. Qualified candidates must also:

  • have strong interpersonal and communication skills with other departments, volunteers and partner families
  • possess above-average written communication skills
  • possess strong problem-solving skills, the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and the ability to multi-task
  • be detail-orientated and be able to work independently
  • be able to consistently and professionally interact with individuals from varied backgrounds
  • be competent with computers and software
  • be willing to travel occasionally
  • be comfortable speaking in front of large groups
  • be flexible and able to prioritize the needs of the department

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Events
    1. Set up, tear down, and facilitate community-based events and/or gatherings
    2. Maintain a database of food donors for Habitat events and work sites, coordinate when necessary
    3. Assist with the preparation for Habitat dedications, including invitations, planning, and implementation
    4. Maintain an organized and up-to-date event supply inventory
    5. Assist with any other duties as required
  • Community Outreach
    1. Proactively support all Community Outreach efforts through diligent preparation and follow-through
    2. Assist with representing Habitat at community events, fairs, business expos, etc.
    3. Assist with any other duties as required
  • Volunteerism
    1. Maintain a well-developed and organized database of volunteer information
    2. Ensure volunteer schedule is up-to-date and communicated properly
    3. Help develop new ways to engage both construction and non-construction volunteers from the communities that we serve
    4. Communicate with volunteer group leads on a weekly basis (via email, phone, and face to face) to facilitate volunteer opportunities
    5. Assist with solid relationship building among volunteers and community stakeholders
    6. Take photos of volunteer groups
    7. Engage Habitat Crew (Habitat’s consistent group of volunteers on construction sites, in the warehouse, and at ReStore)
    8. Perform devotions at work sites
    9. Facilitate the assembly and distribution of volunteer appreciation bags
    10. Provide follow-up and confirmation with volunteers as needed
    11. Assist with any other duties as required

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This individual must be able to lift up to 25lbs. The ideal candidate will also experience frequent bending, squatting, lifting, and repetitive motion. Ability to work at a computer for an extended period of time is required.
