JOB TITLE: DATA CLERK II
WAGE: $ 20.20 per hour (90% of wage for 180 Day Probationary Period)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the direction of the Billing Supervisor, performs routine office tasks, inputs data into computer, prepares data for input into computer, catalogs and files material, records or transfers information to other documents, maintains reports, calculates figures, researches records for information, determine and/or verify and update accounts for proper billing, assists with resolution of delinquent accounts.
QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES: (Any combination of training and work experience which indicates possession of the skills, knowledge, and abilities are listed below. At a minimum, Associate’s degree in business, accounting or related field preferred, or the equivalent in applicable education and experience. Successful completion of computer training and typing courses, plus one year’s experience in general office functions including basic computer skills required. Must demonstrate skills in public relations and ability to communicate with the public. Possession of a valid Ohio motor vehicle operator’s license required. Receives, records and files information, e.g., correspondence, plans, applications, cards, bills; receives and distributes mail; receives payments and issues receipts; operates copy equipment, data entry terminal, fax machine, microfiche, cash register and related office equipment; prepares and maintains records, reports, maps and drawings; performs routine typing, prepares mailing lists and other related duties as required. Responds to customer inquiries and directs caller or takes message, title and mortgage companies. Resolves problems with customers. Balances payment checks and billing stubs; batches bill stubs and records batches; prepares daily bank deposits sheets; completes daily and monthly close-outs; as necessary. Processes water and sewer bills for mailing, incoming mail, and pay-ins. Posts payments into computer, updates records, sets up new accounts, changes addresses, calculates assessment charges and units of benefit, researches records. Provides receptionist relief, serves as liaison between and works with numerous departments. Contacts and inspects customer properties to determine and/or verify and update billing accounts to ensure accurate monthly billings. Assist Billing Supervisor with preparation and organization of special billing, payments from banking institutions, ACH deposits and transfers of funds for autopay customers, certification processes for delinquent accounts, and preparation and maintenance of various records and monthly reports. Also assists with ongoing technology improvements related to billing operations including printing of bills and additional payment options for customers, etc. Performs other related duties as required.
