Description

Christian Children's Home of Ohio is seeking a Donor Relations Manager to work under the supervision of the Director of Development to secure funds by cultivating and managing donor relationships - assuring that as many as possible are retained as continuing donors to the agency, and are upgraded in their giving and involvement.

The Donor Relations Manager (DRO) engages in researching active and prospective donors, creating proposals, making contacts for visits, personally visiting these entities, and ongoing cultivation and stewardship of donors to raise approximately $100,000 annually in new support for capital projects and annual fund. The DRO has a travel expectation of approximately 75%.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: It is the responsibility of each employee to be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ and to adhere to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith. Job-specific essential functions include the following:
Makes every effort to maintain a 'team first' spirit and atmosphere within the workplace environment fostering and maintaining appropriate working relationships within the Advancement team, and with other Agency departments, as well.

Primary Responsibilities:
1. Qualifies portfolio of donors that represent high giving potential
2. Creates individual goals for donors, based on the donor's giving potential
3. Creates a personal contact/ask plan for each donor giving $1,000 or more, taking into account the donor's interests, motivations, giving patterns, and preferences, appropriately executing the plan for with each donor.
4. Partners with Marketing & Communications team to create offers, proposals and asks that will secure donor gifts.

Other duties include:

  • Creates reports, as required or requested, that accurately reflect activity and performance.
  • Partners with Agency CEO and Director of Development to design and deploy rigorous major gift petition strategy.
  • Engages in donor relations via Internet, social media, special events, direct mail, electronic mail, phone calls, personal visits, etc. Works in cooperation with Advancement team on donor relations. Builds and nurtures relationships with current and new donors.
  • Participates and represents CCHO in community, business, chamber/foundation events

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Communications, English, Writing, and 5 to 7 years fundraising experience, including a demonstrated record of successful major gift solicitations and experience designing and executing donor identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship strategies.

LANGUAGE & COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including, but not limited to the ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals within and outside the agency, and professionally represent CCHO and family of ministries across a wide
range of audiences. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence, including but not limited to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

Terrific interpersonal and networking skills, and the confidence to speak with potential donors in person or over the telephone. Ability to comfortably, confidently, and professionally speak with large groups, including, but not limited to executive management/boards of directors, churches, conventions/conferences, social groups, etc.

Must be a good listener, fast learner, and integrator of information; experienced working with a wide variety of personalities and work environments; have excellent spoken and written communication; and be skilled in personal computer and communications technology.

Ability to read, understand and write technical documentation, presentation of training or other materials must be organized for effective retention.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Access. Ability to navigate and utilize web-based applications, with specific familiarity with the internet (including social media), accounting, database (Virtuous CRM), as well as Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to drive long distances.
