Description

DUTIES (include but not limited to the following):

  • Assist the Human Resources Director with department operations, administering labor union contracts, human resources policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Staff Development Specialist with training and orientation activities.
  • Assist with Board front office/lobby operations as needed, i.e. phones, visitors, mail.
  • Assist with recruitment activities, i.e. posting jobs, distributing applications/resumes, scheduling interviews, maintaining files and spreadsheet tracking all related activity.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed for each new hire, per the New Hire Checklist.
  • Work closely with Payroll to process new hire paperwork and Employee Status Change forms.
  • Maintain personnel files. Ensure appropriate files transferred to microfilm annually, per County policy.
  • Assist with coordinating HR related activities (wellness, engagement, recognition, etc…)
  • Assist with distribution of Employee Engagement and New Hire Surveys; schedule Exit Interviews.
  • Process workers’ compensation, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), unemployment claims, other leaves of absence, and maintain associated files.
  • Prepare monthly reports.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS (include but not limited to the following):

  • High School Diploma. Associates Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years Human Resources administrative experience.
  • Must be detail oriented and organized.
  • Ability to multi-task, accurately follow instructions.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Exposure to payroll practices, federal, state, local labor and employment laws/regulations.
  • Ability to think and act independently with problem solving skills.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal relationship skills
  • Teamwork skills and ability to work with diverse people at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer literacy with capability in email, HRIS and Micro-Soft Office applications

 

This position involves working with children and/or adults who have developmental disabilities.
