Description
DUTIES (include but not limited to the following):
- Assist the Human Resources Director with department operations, administering labor union contracts, human resources policies and procedures.
- Assist the Staff Development Specialist with training and orientation activities.
- Assist with Board front office/lobby operations as needed, i.e. phones, visitors, mail.
- Assist with recruitment activities, i.e. posting jobs, distributing applications/resumes, scheduling interviews, maintaining files and spreadsheet tracking all related activity.
- Ensure all tasks are completed for each new hire, per the New Hire Checklist.
- Work closely with Payroll to process new hire paperwork and Employee Status Change forms.
- Maintain personnel files. Ensure appropriate files transferred to microfilm annually, per County policy.
- Assist with coordinating HR related activities (wellness, engagement, recognition, etc…)
- Assist with distribution of Employee Engagement and New Hire Surveys; schedule Exit Interviews.
- Process workers’ compensation, Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), unemployment claims, other leaves of absence, and maintain associated files.
- Prepare monthly reports.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS (include but not limited to the following):
- High School Diploma. Associates Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years Human Resources administrative experience.
- Must be detail oriented and organized.
- Ability to multi-task, accurately follow instructions.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Exposure to payroll practices, federal, state, local labor and employment laws/regulations.
- Ability to think and act independently with problem solving skills.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal relationship skills
- Teamwork skills and ability to work with diverse people at all levels of the organization
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Computer literacy with capability in email, HRIS and Micro-Soft Office applications
This position involves working with children and/or adults who have developmental disabilities.
