The Fred W. Albrecht Grocery Company, DBA: Acme Fresh Markets (“Company”) is a privately held company headquartered in Akron, Ohio with 16 grocery stores in Northeast Ohio. Acme has been feeding the families of Northeast Ohio for over 130 years.PRIMARY FUNCTION:Acme Fresh Market is hiring a Finance Manager. This position is responsible for providing support for (1) the accounting and tax functions of the organization (2) collaborating within the department and across the organization to provide timely and accurate monthly and yearly financial reporting and (3) execution and compliance with internal financial controls.SPECIFIC DUTIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:The Finance Manager will, at the direction of and in collaboration with the Controller:Administer and implement systems, practices, controls, and procedures that enables robust reporting and supports adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Direct and evaluate the performance of personnel in the accounting department in a hybrid/distributive workforce environment.

Manage timely and accurate financial reporting to facilitate financial reporting & analysis.

Assist in monthly financial statement preparation for internal management.

Responsibility for overall balance sheet control including review of account reconciliations.

Provide oversight of financial statement audit and coordination of activities with the external auditors.

Provide oversight of federal, state, and local tax matters.

Work with IT Department on systems to maintain proper records and adequate accounting controls.

Assist with the establishment of standard inventory costs, inventory control procedures and physical inventories.

Provide back up to other Accounting Department positions during vacations etc.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

This position reports to the Controller.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

3 years (minimum) of progressive experience in Finance & Accounting preferably in the Retail/Consumer Goods industry.

Interest in researching and implementing technology and business practices to create business efficiencies and continuous improvement.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related major or equivalent finance supervisory experience.

Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close processes.

Strong technical accounting skills, including GAAP, and knowledge of accounting systems.

Expertise in Excel.

Strong management & communication skills for departmental oversight.

Takes initiative, follows the Golden Rule, and is Hard Working.

This position may be a hybrid of work from home and in Office.  Must have flexibility to adjust to needs of the Accounting Department.  Must be able to provide adequate WIFI for VPN Access from home.
