Encourage Foster Care (a ministry of Christian Children's Home of Ohio) is seeking a Foster Care Assessor to complete foster and adoptive home studies and various licensing requirements for Encourage families. Assists with adoptions in the department as necessary based on caseloads. The ideal candidate is passionate about working with foster and adoptive families. Experience with foster care and adoption is ideal, but not required if eligible candidates are willing to train and learn.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: It is the responsibility of each employee to be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ and to adhere to the Standard of Moral Conduct and Statement of Faith. Job-specific essential functions include the following:
~ Makes every effort to maintain a 'team first' spirit and atmosphere within the workplace environment fostering and maintaining appropriate working relationships within the Encourage team, and with other Agency departments, as well.
~ Facilitates new home studies and any additional licensing needs on assigned caseload (re-certifications, approving alternative caregivers, rules investigations, tracking training needs).
~ Attends and participates in Encourage Team meetings.
~ Participates in Quality Improvement activities.

Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's Degree and Licensed Social Worker in the State of Ohio (or LSW eligible). Experience with foster care and adoption is preferred and this position will require Assessor Tier One and Tier Two completion. This training can be obtained after the start date for a new employee who is willing to train and learn.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write professional quality reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from agencies, families, clients, donors, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should be proficient in Microsoft Office, Internet and e-mail. Knowledge of database and design software is helpful. Experience in Sacwis is preferred.

The employee is often required to stand or walk for extended periods of time.  The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands, reach with arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  The ability to cope with and tolerate moderate levels of stress is also a necessity. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.  This job requires the employee to maintain licensure and drive a motor vehicle in the state of Ohio.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however can reach high volumes as well.
