Description

PURPOSE

Provide assistance to timely processing of fiscal information in the support of the agency’s mission. The position works primary doing accounting functions for each of the three entities (ICAN Inc. Park Place of Alliance and ICAN Garden Apartments)

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

  • Accounts Receivable
  • Create invoices for monthly rents
  • Make bank deposits and electronic transfers
  • Posting of funds received to accounting system and reconciliation of the monthly cash log.
  • Determine quarterly Allowance for Bad Debt
  • Work with Manager of Grant Accounting and Property Manager to process evictions
  • Learn to review and understand general ledger coding
  • Do monthly journals relating to Park Place of Alliance and ICAN Garden Apartments
  • Reconcile all bank accounts for each of the entities
  • Work with the Manager of Grant Accounting to ensure all items are posted monthly before the accounting month is closed
  • Reconcile intercompany accounts payable – to ICAN accounts receivable
  • Prepare annual HUD reporting and analysis for reserve accounts
  • Maintain reconciliation of Security Deposits
  • Perform account reconciliations for all entities
  • Assist with annual audit and grant audits
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

 Education, Training, and/or Experience

  1. BS in Accounting (preferred) or AA in accounting / related work experience
  2. Experience in the areas of accounts receivable, journal entry processing, Excel and Word

 Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

Current and valid Driver License, automobile insurance and access to a vehicle

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  2. Proficient with use of work processing and spreadsheet applications
  3. Able to learn customized accounting and reporting software
  4. Detail orientated with an ability to meet deadlines
  5. Possess an understanding of the non-profit/social services and private sectors
