POSITION
Construction Assistant
THIS POSITION REPORTS TO
The Construction Director of Habitat for Humanity East Central Ohio (HFHECO)
FULL-TIME: Non-Exempt
POSITION PURPOSE
The Construction Assistant is responsible for assisting the Warehouse Manager in the day-to-day operations of overseeing, performing and implementing all aspects of the safety, procedures and processes required for smooth operation and transition of materials from warehouse to job site. This position also assists Project Managers and Project leads in the field in all aspects of HFHECO construction projects.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS
A valid driver’s license with a good driving record is required.Criminal background check required
REQUIREMENTS
The Construction Assistant must understand and appreciate the mission of HFHECO. Qualified candidates must also:

PRIMARY DUTIES AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Warehouse
- Receive materials/inventory/stock
- Prep materials and tools for work day
- Work in conjunction with the construction department to provide supplies in a timely fashion/Job site deliveries
- Coordinate with Warehouse Manager to ensure that all tools and materials are picked up at the end of work day
- Unload and put away tools and materials
- Return excess materials into stock or vendor for job credit
- Perform physical inventory when needed
- General overall maintenance, cleanliness of building – for example: lunchroom, vacuum workshop tables, etc.
- Work under the direction of the Construction Director and assist with any needed repairs and updates to properly maintain the operation of the Habitat facilities.
Construction
- Work with project managers on new construction, preserve-a-home, and critical home repair projects
- Work with and teach unskilled volunteers
- Keep worksites clean
- Fill in wherever needed around the ministry
- Attend monthly staff meetings
- Be a positive representative for the Habitat ministry
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The Construction Assistant must be able to lift a minimum of 70 lbs. and have the ability to spend the majority of the day moving. Work may require bending, kneeling, navigating steps, and reaching in awkward and tiring positions
