Targeted Hiring Salary: Annual Salary Range: Minimum--$37,638 -- Max--$50,811 (based upon a 180 day contract)

Position Summary:

Prepare and deliver high-quality day, evening, weekend, satellite, and/or online courses. Traditional and online course development and facilitation; academic advising; participation in student learning outcome assessment; engage students to foster academic success; participation in college, division, and department meetings and events. Marketing of programs; support quality improvement in the department, division, and college; and other duties as assigned by the department. Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating curricula in the Culinary Arts Program following the academic standards of Stark State College and the American Culinary Federation. This position involves instruction in theory and lab settings to ensure that students reach learning outcomes.

Teach assigned classes. Advise students on career planning and provide academic counseling to meet students’ goals. Facilitate a learning-centered classroom and out-of-classroom activities. Participate in real-life applications of learning and mentoring of students. Provide service to students through student activities sponsorship and teamwork with peers in college activities, planning and committee responsibilities. Display a positive demeanor through dedication to Stark State College mission and values; willingness to accept and promote change; open-minded fairness and consideration of multiple perspectives; willingness to take risks, work hard, accept responsibility for personal/professional growth, lead and follow well, accept criticism, handle conflict, and motivate others. Demonstrate a commitment to cooperation, consensus building, collaboration, effective goal-setting and evaluation. Participate in community organizations and activities. Implementation of best practices in curriculum development, teaching strategies and assessment of student learning outcomes. The Chef will assist in showcasing the program and to provide and promote real world experiences in a controlled environment for the students. The instructor will implement all Safety and Sanitation and HACCP procedures and ensure that they are followed in the new facility. The Chef will also be responsible in the implementation and maintenance of relationships with area businesses for the purpose of internships and student placements.

Education Requirements:

Associate degree in Culinary Arts from a nationally accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in business or a commitment to get a bachelor’s degree required.

Experience/Qualifications Requirements:

Experience: Minimum of 3 years as a working chef or sous chef. Certified by the American Culinary Federation or other appropriate culinary accrediting agencies including the NRA (National Restaurant Association). Current ServSafe certified instructor/proctor. Certified Ohio Food Safety Instructor.

Licensure or Certification Requirements:
ServSafe through ACF (American Culinary Federation) or NRA (National Restaurant Association.

Preferred Qualification:
Master’s degree preferred.
