  1. Contact patient insurance carrier to verify insurance and secure eligibility payments for services.
  2. Calculate patient responsibility for co-pay, deductible and co-insurance.
  3. Educate patients regarding the benefits they are eligible for under their current insurance policy.  Explain the dollar amount they are responsible for at time of service.
  4. Enter notes in the computer system of conversation with patient and insurance company.
  5. Send a letter or email to the patient when unable to contact by phone with benefits.
  6. Send out pertinent forms to patients if needed.
  7. Notify Scheduling Clerk if patient needs to reschedule resulting from the patient’s decision after verifying insurance benefits.
  8. Document all phone calls for scheduling and/or cancellations.
  9. File working papers for future reference.
  10. Report “incidents” per the policy and procedure established by the corporation
  11. Other duties as assigned

Job Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Previous experience working with insurance carriers
  2. Possess good communication skills with both co-workers and the public.
  3. Friendly and courteous at all times with both the public and with co-workers.
  4. Organized and detail oriented.
  5. Ability to work under pressure
  6. Team player
  7. Self-motivated
  8. Familiar with HIPAA regulations
