About the position:  The Kitchen Manager is the behind-the-scenes stage manager who helps make the show in our restaurant such a great success.  He/she coordinates the functions necessary to get the right amount of the highest quality foods ready to be prepared and served by a very engaged and motivated team.  Customers often don’t get to see the Kitchen Manager’s commitment to detail and quality in action, but they taste it during each and every visit.

 Essential Responsibilities:

  • Schedule and manage employees for the following areas: prep kitchen, serving kitchen and carry out, dishwashers, bussers and evening cleaning crew, as required by anticipated activity.
  • Provide training, create work schedules, conduct performance reviews, address complaints and disciplinary issues, and resolve problems.
  • Schedule and participate in training all (new & current) employees in food preparation, cleanliness, and sanitizing and safety procedures.
  • Observe and evaluate employees and work procedures in order to ensure quality standards and service.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of kitchen equipment, kitchens, carry out, coolers and warehouse.
  • Review the daily food preparations and utilization of food surpluses and leftovers, taking into account probable number of customers and restaurant or banquet menus.
  • Estimate ingredients and supplies required to prepare a recipe and order extra supplies as needed.
  • Ensure that all food and products are consistently prepared and served according to the restaurant’s recipes, portioning, cooking and serving standards.
  • Enforce established sanitary standards for prep kitchen, serving kitchen, carry out and all food storage areas in accordance with food safety guidelines.
  • Work with other leaders to establish portion sizes and prepare standard recipe cards for all new menu items.
  • Attend all food safety and professional development classes as scheduled.

 Essential Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required, 5 years plus experience in food prep supervision preferred
  • Strong attention to detail with an aptitude for solving problems
  • Ability to interact with direct reports in a friendly manner and motivate them for desired performance
