SCALE COUNTER CASHIER TRAINEE

We have immediate need for a career-oriented FULL or PART TIME scale cashier to enter customer weigh ticket data into the computerized system, print receipt and direct customer to our on-site ATM for payment of material purchased. We do not handle cash. Assist the Dispatcher when necessary.

In conjunction with scale staff and accounting manager, verifies that incoming material being purchased is accurately described and properly graded for type and quality and ensure that the customer is serviced quickly and courteously. Handles telephone price inquiries promptly and politely.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Greets customers promptly as they approach the counter, makes sure they are treated with courtesy and processed quickly.  Inputs all necessary data into system ensuring that pricing, product codes, weights, and customer information is accurate and updates as necessary. Keeps current regarding city regulations pertaining to scrap dealers and maintains an up-to-date knowledge of major sales contracts.

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Treats customers with courtesy at all times. Performs other office duties as assigned. Is responsive, proactive and results-oriented; reacts to customer and co-worker needs; in a positive and businesslike manner, adapts to change.

TRUST AND INTEGRITY: Demonstrates sound business ethics; shows consistency among principles, values and behaviors; builds trust with others through own action and authenticity. Personally maintains a record of acceptable attendance and punctuality.

Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. One year or more of hands-on work experience in a plant setting or industrial or office environment. Computer literacy required, should be proficient with MS Office, MS-Word and Excel.

Physical Requirements. . The physical demands are relatively sedentary, representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job: Sit and stand throughout the day performing a variety of office tasks.
