The following position is posted for the period of February 10 through February 26, 2022. This position is not a part of either the classified or certificated bargaining units.

 

Transportation Supervisor

 

Duty Time:            260 days

Salary:                    Per District Administrative Salary Schedule Starting Date: July 1, 2022

Job Objectives:

Director of Business

 

Administers pupil transportation services. Oversees ongoing driver training and vehicle maintenance programs to ensure safe and dependable services. Note: Substitute driving duties may be assigned.

 

 

Special note:  In the 2021-2022 school year, the position was filled by two employees, each working a one week on, one week off schedule.  The district will accept letters from candidates interested in either the full position or half position.

Minimum Qualifications

 

The Transportation Supervisor shall:

 

  • Have at least a High School
  • Have Post-secondary training and/or equivalent work experience in transportation or a closely related service
  • Meet all mandated health requirements (e.g., a negative tuberculosis test, ).
  • Have a record free of criminal violations that would prohibit public school
  • Comply with drug-free workplace rules and board
  • Have computer skills and knowledge of transportation
  • Have the ability to interpret and comply with safety regulations and environmental
  • Have bookkeeping skills and the ability to compute mathematical data
  • Have effective presentation skills and the ability to train adult
  • Hold a valid Ohio driver's
  • Meet all prerequisite and ongoing qualifications to be covered by the district's insurance
  • Be able and available to respond to service

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • Holds or is qualified to obtain Ohio Pupil Transportation
  • Meets all bus driver minimum

Responsibilities and Essential Functions

  • Directs the delivery and continuous improvement of district-wide pupil transportation services.
  • Keeps the Director of Business informed about emerging
  • Upholds board policies and follows administrative
  • Promotes a professional image of the school
  • Encourages community partnerships that enhance district
  • Prepares schedules and bus routes. Assigns drivers. Makes routing information available to students/parents and building
  • Works with the Director of Special Education to address the needs of students with disabilities.
  • Consults with principals to ensure that transportation services are
  • Maintains transportation rosters (e.g., student names, grade levels, school attended, bus identification, pick-up and drop-off points, time schedules, ).
  • Maintains an accurate up-to-date list of student information on each
  • Coordinates the non-routine use of school buses (e.g., field trips, athletic contests, community requests, ).
  • Oversees the timely submission of reports, records, and inventories. Maintains district records for the maximum period mandated by law and/or board
  • Respects personal privacy. Maintains the confidentiality of privileged
  • Monitors road and weather conditions. Advises the Superintendent about the need to delay or cancel
  • Monitors bus communications. Conveys information as
  • Participates in transportation staff selection and orientation
  • Monitors bus driver-training requirements. Verifies that all drivers are properly qualified and correctly licensed. Ensures that drivers are familiar with all aspects of their assigned duties (e.g., district policies, schedules, routes, ).
  • Ensures the equitable distribution of workloads and extra assignments. Provides for coverage during staff absences. Approves time
  • Recommends procedures to effectively deal with emergency
  • Administers an ongoing vehicle maintenance program. Maintains an inventory of essential
  • Monitors compliance with safety regulations and environmental
  • Maintains repair logs. Inspects completed repairs. Approves invoices for
  • Coordinates and participates in Ohio State Highway Patrol annual bus
  • Prepares an annual equipment inventory. Recommends the replacement of equipment necessary to ensure fleet
  • Prepares competitive bid specifications (e.g., insurance, bus purchases, supplies, ).
  • Secures and evaluates work performed by outside
  • Coordinates the pick-up of transportation equipment, materials, and other
  • Promotes bus safety. Supervises emergency evacuation drills. Prepares materials for building staff to carry out student bus safety
  • Investigates all school bus accidents and prepares reports. Teaches defensive driving measures to help drivers avoid

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Promptly documents all departmental staff and personal injuries that require medical attention.
  • Reports student discipline problems, vandalism, and other related
  • Works with principals and drivers to address discipline
  • Acts responsibly to protect school property. Takes appropriate action during adverse weather conditions.
