Description

Basic Function:

Assists residents to attain and maintain optimal functional status by contributing to the development and implementation of the nursing care delivery system. Ensures care meets all standards of care as set forth by St. Joseph Senior Living while working under the supervision of a Registered or Licensed Practical Nurse.

Primary Job Duties:

  1. Follows established Resident’s individualized plans of care under the general direction of the Charge Nurse.
  2. Provides care which may include, but not limited to:
    1. Mobility functions
    2. Grooming functions
    3. Dining functions
    4. Toileting functions
    5. Busing and cleaning dining table in your assigned division.
    6. Return dirty dining carts to the kitchen.
  3. Follows established detailed individualized restorative STNA functions under the direction of nursing.
  4. Documents all care, interventions, and events in the patients record.
  5. Follows infection control principles, policies, and procedures.
  6. Communicates changes in resident conditions or treatments to RN supervisor and appropriate disciplines.
  7. Supports positive relationships internal and external to nursing.
  8. Ensures a safe and comfortable environment for residents, staff, and visitors at all times.
  9. Immediately report suspected or actual abuse, mistreatment, neglect, exploitation, and misappropriation of property to the CEO/Administrator in accordance with the policy set forth in the employee handbook.
  10. Immediately report suspected or actual injury received while in the commission of my position to my immediate supervisor.
  11. Contact the CEO/Administrator if I believe that a resident’s private health information was improperly disclosed.
  12. Supports and maintains quality assurance, residents’ rights, and safety regulatory standards.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing/Supervisor and Administration.

Skills and Abilities:

Must have a working knowledge of quality, geriatric nursing care. Good verbal and written communication and the ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team. Must maintain confidentiality and the ability to prioritize to ensure good time management.

Education and/or Experience:

Completion or enrollment in State Approved Nurse Aide Training and Competency evaluation program; High school Diploma or G.E.D. preferred, not required. Previous experience in working in a nursing home/long term care and in working with elders preferred; Graduation of State Approved Training Program and successful completion of Nurse Aide examination to be a State Tested Nurse Aide preferred.
