Scrap Metal Picker/Sorter
This position sorts (picks) unwanted metals from shredded metal including copper, aluminum, brass, steel, wire etc. from a conveyor line or shaker table.  This semi-fast paced role requires attentiveness and basic multi-tasking ability.  Performs daily end of shift clean-up of work area and other duties as directed by supervision.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  These, however, are not all inclusive.

  • Should have High School Diploma or GED, and be physically capable of performing the job.
  • Scrap metal Industry experience or knowledge, a big plus as well as being trainable.
  • Good hand/eye coordination and ability to work inside or outside (job is mostly inside).
  • Must be safety-oriented and exhibit safe work habits with attention to detail.
  • Being punctual and reliable is a must; good attendance is required and rewarded.
  • You will be a team-player, possess suitable communication skills, be self-motivated, eager to learn new skills, conscientious and willing to grow and thrive.
  • Ability to adhere to Company policies and rules and promote the Company’s safety standards. Possess a true and sincere sense of honesty and trustworthiness.  (Simply put; follow the rules, do the work you get paid for and don’t steal or cheat).

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those an employee should possess to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Be able to regularly and frequently handle the repetitive tasks faster than a snail’s pace. Requires putting forth a little effort.

  • Mostly standing, reaching, grasping, and occasionally being able to lift 50 lbs.

Work Environment:

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • Outside work in the Yard is where temperature and weather extremes (heat, cold, rain) may be encountered.
  • All work takes place in an industrial environment, amidst noise, dust and dirt.


Work Hours:

  • Generally, there is a Monday through Friday work schedule with plentiful overtime
    availability including some Saturday’s as becomes necessary dictated by customer demand.
