Your seat at the table

Shearer’s Foods is currently seeking an energetic, articulate, self-motivated individual with a “can do” attitude to join the fast-paced Corporate Accounting & Treasury team.

 

  • Perform and/or support various accounting duties such as month-end close, accruals, journal entries, account reconciliations, data analysis, financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, debt accounting and compliance, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Support external financial and lender compliance audits by gathering data, preparing and/or reviewing work papers and schedules, and participating in on-site inventory observations.
  • Perform and/or support tax, regulatory, and compliance duties such as U.S. and Canadian consolidated income tax provisions, estimated tax payment vouchers, indirect state, local and international tax returns for all Company locations, tax depreciation, tax incentives, unclaimed funds reporting, government surveys, multi-state payroll tax account maintenance, and other tasks as assigned.
  • Prepare income tax and apportionment data to support external accountants’ completion of federal, state, local and international tax return filings.
  • Assist with monthly free cash flow projections, quarterly financial forecasts, and annual budget processes.
  • Review the work of other accountants for accuracy as assigned.
  • Convey a strong sense of urgency to complete assigned duties timely and accurately.
  • Remain positive and productive as circumstances, assignments or priorities change while also juggling multiple demands.
  • Communicate appropriate information clearly and effectively to other team members, departments, and external parties.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and take ownership of areas of responsibility, complete non-standard requests or projects independently, and identify, investigate and resolve issues independently.
  • Evaluate and challenge processes and tasks on an on-going basis to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Apply learnings from past experiences, coaching, and feedback to grow and develop.

 What you bring to the table

  • 2 to 3 years experience in accounting and/or tax accounting role required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required. Master’s degree in Taxation is a plus.
  • CPA or pursuit of certification is preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is preferred.
  • Tax experience is preferred.
  • Payroll experience is a plus.
  • Intermediate Excel skills are required.
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail and accuracy is required.
